Recently, SPE Chengdu Section President Guo Xiao received a congratulatory letter from SPE (Society of Petroleum Engineers), saying SPE Chengdu Section has been awarded the 2020 SPE Excellence Award. This is another international award since Chengdu Section President has been awarded the 2019 Distinguished President in 2019.
SPE has 203 sections across the globe. After strict selection by SPE every year, Distinguished President and Section Excellence Awards are granted to those who make great contributions to the Technical Knowledge Dissemination (30%), Section Operations & Sustainability (30%), Member Benefits (30%), Reaching Out-Within, Inter-Society and Community Benefits (10%) and Innovation (10%) (see https://www.spe.org/en/sections/section-award-winners/).
In 2015, Chengdu Study Group has been established in Southwest Petroleum University, chaired by Mr. Guo Jianchun. In recent years, SPE Chengdu Study Group integrated the annual Science and Technology Week with SPE Cultural Festival to promote various projects with the support from national key laboratory faculty. In 2019, Chengdu Study Group applied for a promotion and was approved as SPE Chengdu Section.
