According to statistics of Clarivate Analytics released on September 10th, 2020, a discipline of Southwest Petroleum University, Materials Science, ranked top 1% of ESI（Essential Science Indicators）among the universities and academic institutions worldwide.
In the past 10 years, a total of 780 papers written by SWPU scholars have been published by SCI journals of materials science, with 7311 cites and 6 high-level papers. With 4.94% of additional accomplishments, Southwest Petroleum University entered the top 1% in the global ESI ranking.
To date, three SWPU disciplines have been included on the world ESI list: Engineering, Chemistry and Materials Science.
