Introduction
Southwest Petroleum University (SWPU) is one of the earliest domestic universities granted graduate degrees. The training of master graduates at SWPU can be traced back to 1978 and it was approved in 1986 by the State Council as one of the universities authorized to confer doctor’s degrees.
SWPU is authorized by the State Council to confer Doctorate or Master’s degree in 6 disciplines, including engineering,science, management, economics, literature, law. At present, SWPU has 5 First-level and 29 Second-level disciplines authorized to confer doctoral degrees, 20 First-level and 88 Second-level disciplines authorized to confer Master’s degrees. Apart from the academic degrees, SWPU awards a variety of professional degrees, including Master of Engineering (with 16 professional areas), Master of Business Administration, Master of Translation, Master of Engineering Management, Master of Law,Master of Social Work and Master of Applied Statistics.
SWPU is continuously deepening reform in graduate education, holding quality of talent education as the lifeline indegree and graduate education, making every effort to build itself into “a nationally renowned, high-level, research-oriented university with its petroleum engineering and its related areas reaching the world’s first class”.
