On January 23rd, the “Joint Institute of Offshore Oil and Gas Development and Exploitation” was founded in Beijing. The institute is developed jointly by Southwest Petroleum University, China University of Petroleum, Northeast Petroleum University, Dalian University of Technology and CNOOC. The institute includes the laboratory of oil and gas reservoir geology and geophysics, the laboratory of oil and gas well integrity, the laboratory of oil and gas reservoir engineering, the laboratory of reservoir protection and reconstruction, the laboratory of deep sea oil and gas equipment, the laboratory of solid fluidization exploitation of natural gas hydrate, and the comprehensive management office.
Zhao Jinzhou, principal of SWPU, participated in the founding ceremony of the institute. In the ceremony, he introduced SWPU’s achievements and the development plan in the research of natural gas hydrate.
The Joint Institute of Offshore Oil and Gas Development and Exploitation aims at the technology frontiers in the world, emphasizes fundamental researches, and is expected to achieve major breakthrough in prospective fundamental researches and cutting-edge original findings.
