On April 21^st, the Chinese Academy of Engineering website published candidates for coopted academicians in 2017, and seven alumni were nominated.

The three ways of nomination this year cover nomination of academicians, nomination of China Association for Science and Technology, and nomination of both academicians and China Association for Science and Technology.

According to the report, the academician election began on January 1^st in 2017, and 533 people were nominated with the maximum cooptation number of 75.

Jiang Wei, senior engineer with professorship, graduated as oil engineering major from SWPU in 1982. He is thedeputy chief engineer and manager in the Department of Engineering Technology of China National Offshore Oil Corporation. He is nominated by academicians.

Jin Xiaojian, senior engineer with professorship, graduated as mechanical engineering major from SWPU in 1982. He is the director and president of Offshore Oil Engineering Co. , Ltd. He is nominated by academicians and China Association for Science and Technology.

Zhao Jinzhou, doctoral supervisor, graduated as oil engineering major from SWPU in 1982. He is the principal of SWPU. He is nominated by China Association for Science and Technology.

Wang Zhaoming, senior engineer with professorship, graduated as geology major from SWPU in 1983. He is the chief geologist of PetroChina Tarim Oilfield Company. He is nominated by academicians.

Liu Qingyou, professor and doctoral supervisor, graduated as mechanical engineering major from SWPU in 1986. He is the principal of Xihua University. He is nominated by academicians.

Sun Jinsheng, doctor and senior engineer with professorship, graduated from SWPU in 2006 as a Ph.D. He is the senior technical expert of Petrochina and also the top expert of Drilling Engineering Technology Research Institute of Petrochina. He is nominated by academician.

Liu Naizhen, doctor and senior engineer with professorship, graduated from SWPU in 2008 as a Ph.D. He is the vice-general manager and chief engineer of China Great Wall Drilling Oil Group Engineering Co., LTD. He is nominated by China Association for Science and Technology.

The past 60 years has witnessed SWPU cultivating three academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering. They are Luo Yaping, Zhou Shouwei and Gao Deli.

Luo Pingya, professor and doctoral supervisor, graduated as oil engineering major from SWPU in 1963. He was elected as the academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering in 1995.

Zhou Shouwei, senior engineer with professorship, graduated as oil engineering major from SWPU in 1982. He was elected as the academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering in 2009.

Gao Deli, professor and doctoral supervisor, graduated as mechanical engineering major from SWPU in 1984. He was elected as the academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2013.
