On April 14th, 2024 ASC Student Supercomputer Challenge (hereinafter referred to as ASC24) finals, which lasted for 5 days, came to an end. SWPU Delegation won the first prize and the Group Competition Award.
ASC24 lasted for nearly 6 months, with over 300 delegations from around the world signing up to participate. Twenty-five delegations, selected through preliminary rounds, advanced to the finals held at Shanghai University, with the highest number of final teams in history.
Three SWPU delegations participated in the competition, among which the team guided by Supervisor Peng Bo advanced to the finals, making it the only team from the Southwest China to make it to the finals.
n the finals, SWPU delegation performed exceptionally well, which reflected their comprehensive and profound understanding of supercomputing systems and applications, as well as outstanding performance optimization abilities. The awards include Champion, Runner-up, and the first prize. The Champion went to Peking University, and Runner-up Sun Yat-sen University.
During the Group Competition, 25 delegations were divided into 5 groups by drawing lots. Through cross-delegation cooperation, they challenged earthquake wave simulation. SWPU delegation was grouped with Shanghai University, Southern University of Science and Technology, Qilu University of Technology, and Hong Kong Polytechnic University. They achieved efficient optimization in the seismic wave simulation competition and won the Group Competition Award as the only group.
After the Award Ceremony, SWPU student Yang Jialing, as the representative of the Group Competition Award winners, accepted interviews from media outlets such as People's Daily, China Science Daily, China Education Daily, Science and Technology Daily, and YICAI.
