Recently, Shanghai Ranking Consultancy Co., LTD. (hereinafter referred to as "Shanghai Ranking"), a domestic professional education evaluation agency, released the latest "2021 Best Chinese Subjects Ranking". Two SWPU subjects, Material Science and Engineering as well as Mathematics, entered the ranking. Before this, SWPU has 4 subjects on the ranking list, namely Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering, Geological Resources and Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Technology, and Mechanical Engineering.
Together with THE World University Rankings, QS World University Rankings and U S News Best Global Universities Rankings, Shanghai Ranking are the four authoritative world university rankings.
“2021 Best Chinese Subjects Ranking” has adopted the first-level discipline listed in the latest Academic Degree Awarding and Talent Cultivation Discipline Catalogue issued by the Ministry of Education. In each first-level discipline, the rankings are aimed at all universities with academic postgraduate degree awarding points, and published by the top 50% of universities in that discipline. Subjects ranking index system includes five categories, namely personnel training, scientific research projects, research awards, academic papers and academic talent, in which there are 17 indicator dimensions, so as to make a total of more than 50 items reflecting the subject objective quantitative indicators of competitiveness. All the ranking statistics come from the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Science and Technology, National Natural Science Fund Committee, International and Domestic Literature Database, etc.（by Zhang Zhixiang）
