Chairman of SPE Chengdu Section, Guo Xiao, recently received a letter from SPE Headquarters congratulating the Chengdu Section on winning the SPE Presidential Award for Outstanding Section of 2019. The award will be presented by SPE president Sami Alnuaim and CEO Mark Rubin at 2019 SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition (ATCE) in Calgary, Canada.
SPE has 202 sections worldwide, and gives the presidential award annually to the top 5% sections with the most outstanding contributions in the innovation, communication, reformation and promotion of new technologies and knowledge in the field of petroleum engineering, and the inheritance and popularization of petroleum culture.
The SPE Chengdu Section was formerly the Chengdu Chapter, founded and chaired by professor Guo Jianchun in 2015. Through application and evaluation procedures, the chapter was promoted to Chengdu Section in 2019.
