On November 28, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) announced the list of newly elected members in 2017. SWPU alumnus Zou Caineng, majoring in geology in 1983, was elected member of CAS Department of Geosciences.
Zou works in CNPC Research Institute of Petroleum Exploration & Development, and has long engaged in scientific researches and exploration of conventional-unconventional oil and gas geology.
As of now, five SWPU alumni have been elected academy members. Three of them are Chinese Academy of Engineering members, and they are Luo Pingya, Zhou Shouwei, and Sun Jinsheng. Two of them are Chinese Academy of Sciences members, and they are Gao Deli and Zou Caineng.
