6月4日上午,賓夕法尼亞州立大學陳幼佳教授應邀來到我院,在明志樓A536為師生們帶來了一場題為“Structural steel design - AISC versus GB: Principles and examples(鋼結構設計—AISC與GB對比:原理與示例)”的精彩學術報告。本次報告由我院院長甘丹教授主持,吸引了眾多青年教師和研究生的參與。
報告伊始,陳幼佳教授以2023版美國AISC LRFD(荷載和強度系數設計)與2017版中國GB 50017(鋼結構設計標準)為核心,介紹了兩者的設計理念。AISC LRFD設計基于概率論方法,強調通過荷載與抗力因子實現安全性與經濟性的平衡;GB規范則更傾向于采用統一的強度設計值,簡化了計算過程,但可能在某些情況下導致設計偏保守。為直觀展現中美規范在工程實踐中的差異,陳教授列舉多個具體案例,詳細對比了二者在應力計算、穩定性校核及螺栓連接設計中的不同。例如,在相同荷載條件下,GB規范對螺栓連接的設計要求比AISC高出約28.7%,而在焊接連接中,GB的保守性甚至可能達到42%。陳教授強調,這種差異源于兩國規范對安全儲備、材料性能及施工工藝的不同考量。
最后,陳幼佳教授與現場師生就如何在實際工程中選擇合適的規范、如何優化設計以提高經濟性等問題展開了熱烈討論。陳教授表示,隨著全球化進程的加快,中美規范的融合趨勢日益明顯,工程師應具備跨規范設計的能力,并結合項目特點靈活應用。本次講座為師生提供了寶貴的國際視野,促進了中美鋼結構設計規范的交流與學習,對理解中美鋼結構設計差異具有重要意義。

Frank Chen is a professor emeritus of the Pennsylvania State University, USA. His research covered broadly on dynamic soil-structure interaction, computational methods, limit states design, seismic analysis and design, floor vibrations, sustainable materials, geo-environmental engineering, historical structures, composite structures, wind engineering, high-speed rail bridges, and AI applications. His publication record includes 321 high quality refereed journal papers, 2 technical manuals, 58 plus research reports, 1 book, 3 book chapters, and 1 patent. Also, he is a registered professional engineer and has been an active technical consultant to various organizations. Prof. Chen has received a number of honors and awards including Outstanding Research Award from the University (multiples), Research Fellow from National Sciences Council on Taiwan (multiples), Daniel P. Jenny Research Award from Prestressed Concrete Institute (twice). Prof. Chen has been actively involved with various technical committees within ASCE (American Society of Civil Engineers), ACI (American Concrete Institute), AISC (American Institute of Steel Construction), and AASHTO (American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials). He has been also an editor for Materials Testing (Germany), Journal of Structural Integrity and Maintenance (UK), and Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence (UK).
